Our roots in Alpena, Michigan, run deep, and so does our responsibility to this community. The town is home to our cement plant and, more importantly, to the families of more than 200 men and women working at the Holcim Alpena site.
As the leader in building materials and solutions, we provide cement that is used to develop the roads we take to visit family, drive to work and enjoy Michigan's natural treasures. Our cement is also a foundational material in housing, schools and hospitals. It’s a fundamental part of society that connects us all.

In partnership with Alpena Community College, Holcim Alpena is pioneering educational and professional pathways through initiatives like the Holcim Industrial Education and Welding Center. This initiative promotes continued education and career advancement for employees.

Over the last 15 years, the Alpena plant has invested over $100 million in eco-friendly technologies. Today, we proudly offer OneCem® – a durable, high-performance concrete that lowers the carbon footprint – to help customers meet sustainable construction goals and decrease greenhouse gas emissions.

Economic Impact
Holcim Alpena's cement supports local and regional economic growth and is used in Michigan construction projects, including the Gordie Howe Bridge, Comerica Park, Ford Field and Little Caesars Arena. Our cement is used in Michigan roads, schools, hospitals, dams, ports and for decorative applications like patios, floors, staircases, driveways and pool decks. Our plant also serves customers throughout the Midwest and Ontario via the Great Lakes vessels and cement terminals.
